The past and the future


 The future spellbinds those who believe in the effective

ness of will, whereas the past fascinates those who are

aware of the ineffectualness of human determinations.

What man sets out to do is always boring, but what he

achieves sometimes amazes us.


El futuro apasiona a quienes creen en la eficacia de

la voluntad, mientras que el pasado fascina a los que

conocen la impotencia de los propósitos humanos.

Lo que el hombre se propone es siempre tedioso, pero lo

que

obtiene

nos asombra a veces.




I wonder if the different size fonts make this saying about not being so obsessed with the future seem more dissident, more contrary.  That’s why I like the Sec Pistols and Catholicism.
